| Explorers Caravan Park |
There are two CP's to choose from, but I think most people would end up at the Explorers CP at the far end of town.
The park is large and comprises of two sections, powered and non powered, we chose non powered because they allow camp fires and it it much quieter.
Just behind the park there is a river, its a short walk and the fishing is supposed to be good, not that we did any good,

For a small town there is a fair bit to see.
The shire office has a small great war museum, there is display of military memorabilia and you can read letters written to loved ones by diggers from the area.
Just on the outskirts of town there are two places worth looking at, one is the old hospital which they open up at 1530 i think, and the other which is nearby is a demonstration of a power station driven by water from an artesian bore,it opens at 1715, both are free.
There are some designated walking tracks around the town which will take you to the points of interest, the nicest starts at the caravan park and follows the river to the other end of town then trough town back to the park.

There is also a very good information centre/cafe with a good variety of info and nice food, if you are looking for brochures go there first as the post office are selling some of the same brochures for $7.00,
The local store has a good range of supplies at reasonable prices, and fuel is available at $1.65 a litre.
We loved Thargomindah and would recommend it to anyone looking for a stopover for a couple of nights.
